ABOUT ME

I hold a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, and am a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I’ve been working in the field of mental health for the past 15+ years in non-profit, healthcare, and private settings. I enjoy working with individuals experiencing a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD, complex trauma, behavioural concerns, identity, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and nervous system dysregulation.

I favour what’s known as a “bottom-up” approach to therapy- meaning that we use your body and your emotions as the main access points for our work together. We’ll use neuroscience and somatic tools to help you access more flexibility and greater safety in your nervous system so that it has the capacity to be fully present and able to access deeper, core material. We’ll get to know the parts of you that are holding pain, as well as the parts that have been protecting you from it. We can directly target the kinds of memories and experiences from the past that contribute to keeping you stuck.  Your capacity to not just understand, but process and integrate emotional, behavioral, and felt-sense experiences will help you facilitate lasting change.

I have advanced skills and training in trauma, and how it impacts our bodies, nervous systems, behavior, relationships, and emotions. I am skilled at using a wide variety of therapeutic modalities and frameworks including Internal Family Systems, polyvagal theory, interpersonal neurobiology, Somatic therapy, Attachment, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, psychedelic integration, and meaning and insight-based therapies. I work with you to identify specific goals, strengths, and preferences to help tailor my approach so that it’s a good fit for you.

I’m a lifelong learner and as such, am devoted to continually improving my capacities as a psychologist by engaging with current research, practices, and training.  I believe that we are in a time of true paradigm shifts in our understanding and treatment of mental health, the more I learn and grow, the better I can help others do the same. I will never ask you to do something that I haven’t done or experienced myself.

Above everything else, I believe that we all deserve the chance to heal from what has hurt us. I believe in our inherent worthiness, and I embrace the complexity of being human. I’m certainly not perfect at it- I can fall into the trap of shame and self-doubt just like anyone else- but, the more I open up to my humanity, the more freedom I feel. I want to help you feel that too.
